Once viewed as a trailer trend where single and double wide homes were made, modular construction has started to gain in popularity as technology has improved and concepts have evolved.

Modular construction, in which a complete home or an addition is built in a climate-controlled factory and then delivered to the home site, has been around since the early 1900s. Throughout the last ten years, the modular home construction industry has changed from constructing simple single wide homes to being able to build complete second level additions to homes as well as creating a ranch style home that is large enough to house any size family.

There are several benefits to building a modular home. From quality to speed and cost effective, modular homes are quickly becoming the most popular way to build a new house.

Quality

Manufacturing for modular homes has greatly improved in recent years to give stick build homes a solid competitor. Built in a tightly sealed factory setting, each piece of the building is held to a high level of quality control.

Speed of Construction

Modular homes can generally be completed faster than a stick build home. From start of construction in the factory, these homes can be completed in as little as 30 days. Assembly and completion of the build can take an additional 30 to 90 days depending on the time of year and the type of property the buyer wishes to build on. This puts total completion time anywhere from 2-4 months. Stick build homes can be completed anywhere from 6-12 months or longer depending on the complexity of the project.

Lower Costs

The cost of modular home building is somewhat controlled as the purchased home is one of many being built by one manufacturer, saving home buyers an average of 15% over stick build prices.

Throughout our career as home builders, we have seen customers choosing to build a modular home as the stigma surrounding the process has started to disappear. We also enjoy watching our customers pick out every detail of their new home as we work with them to ensure their modular home is truly one-of-a-kind.
